Africa Works Website

Africa Works approached OPS to design a website for the organisation that would communicate what they do, as well as provide a platform to allow for the sale of the items created.

Africa Works aims to economically empower the community of Alexandra and transform lives, giving the residents skills they can use. Africa Works teaches unemployed people basic skills which enable them to earn an income and help themselves.

The website is built on the Drupal Content Management system, allowing Africa Works to quickly and easily upload photo galleries, new info on their projects and products, and the website has an online shop ready and waiting (to be launched in the next few months).

The website’s theme is “Responsive”, meaning that it dynamically re-themes the content and reshapes the pages to display them in the best possible manner based on the device you are using to browse the site.

Africa Works on a normal Laptop Screen

If you are looking at it on a laptop, the website displays normally. If you are looking at it on a particularly large screen, the fonts and images are increased in size to take advantage of the larger space. If you are browsing on a smart phone, the menu becomes a drop-down menu that takes up less screen-space, and the content reflows to fit into a single column which is easier to read on a small screen.

WCA Website

WCA Workers Compensation Assistance approached One Part Scissors to develop a website that is modern, clean and stylish.

WCA offers assistance to companies dealing with the Compensation Commission on claims (Injury-on-Duty, etc). The time and expertise needed to deal with all the red tape of the government department means that companies are often paying too much and not claiming enough, and this is where WCA steps in and assists companies with the process.

The website is slick, clean, and minimal, with large, inviting black-and-white images taking center stage. The content of the website is contained in a semi-translucent turquoise band, with strong, bold typefaces.

The website is built on the Drupal content management system, allowing the client quick and easy access to keep the website up to date. The website is built on the latest Version 7 of Drupal, which has truly taken an already-excellent system to the next level.

The website also features a blog run by WCA, making use of Drupal’s built-in blogging capabilities.

Sections containing large amounts of document downloads are divided into manageable sections which are presented with an ‘accordion-style’ display, that allows the visitor to expand the sections they are interested in.

The website also features a distinct mobile theme so that it displays appropriately on the (increasingly-important) mobile devices like iPhones, iPads and other smartphones.

Northpoint City Church Site Refresh

OPS designed the Northpoint City Church in 2010, and to give the site a breath of new life, we created a fresh new theme for the website.

The website is based on Drupal, which meant that the theme refresh was a fairly quick and cost-effective project.

At the same time as giving the site a fresh theme, we overhauled the Resources section to be more accessible and easier to use, as well as adding a new lifegroups browser which shows images of the lifegroup leaders along with their contact details.

The information pages on the site make use of an ‘accordion-style’ layout that allows for the various sub-sections of the page to pack and unpack in an interesting and different way, helping to keep the pages a manageable length, and keeping the reader engaged.

Bryanston Bible Church

Bryanston Bible Church approached One Part Scissors to design a fresh new website. The current website was looking dated, and was built on a confusing and difficult-to-use content management system.

“So much easier to use, understand and navigate! It feels like the Drupal programme is designed for ease of use for anyone, even non web professionals – I personally find updating and maintaining our website much less daunting using Drupal.”
– Jenalee Steenkamp, Bryanston Bible Church Marketing & Communications

OPS designed the website using Drupal, which makes it incredibly easy to keep the website up to date.

The new website’s theme is very robust, in that it allows for custom backgrounds and header images to be added, allowing key departments in the church to theme their section of the website to reflect their identity better - this is especially important for the youth ministries.

The resources section is also dynamic and easy to keep up to date, with large, inviting icons for the various audio series downloads.

BOBCAT SA Website

BOBCAT manufactures construction and farming equipment, such as skid-steer loaders, excavators, and other hydraulic equipment.

BOBCAT SA approached One Part Scissors to design a new website to mirror the refreshed style of the brand and bring it more in line with the style of the BOBCAT USA website.

The website OPS built for BOBCAT has a bold, heavy-duty feel using the intense colours of the brand - red, black, and white. The background is textured to give the website a ‘real world’ feel.

The BOBCAT SA website is built on the excellent Drupal content management system, which allows BOBCAT the ability to quickly and easily keep the website up to date. The site is set up in such a way that new products can be added to the product library quickly and easily.

Northpoint City Church

UPDATE: The Northpoint City Church website has been revamped, click here to view the latest news on the website.

npcc.org.za

OPS has just completed the redesign of the Northpoint City Church website. The new website is built on the Drupal Content Management System, which allows the church quick and easy access to edit the website’s info as needed on a weekly basis.

The system allows for the easy admin of the Media Library, organizing the audio downloads and offering an iTunes compatible podcast.
New Northpoint City Church Logo

One Part Scissors is currently also working on the redevelopment of the church’s overall brand and identity, and the website is the first element to show the new logo, designed by One Part Scissors late in 2009. The new brand’s colour scheme is also showcased in the website.

npcc.org.za

An interesting element of Northpoint’s web requirements was the need for 2 subsections for ministries within their organisation that need a different look and feel to the rest of the website. The first such section is the Impophomo section, home to Northpoint’s social upliftment ministry. This section needed to be seen by the visitor as it’s own ‘mini-site’, one which will ultimately be reached by a separate domain.

The benefit of using 3 themes with a single website, is that Northpoint can update information across all three sites via a single web based admin tool.

npcc.org.za

Jozi Jammers is a preschool situated on the property with Northpoint City Church, and although overseen by the church it is an independent entity, also needing it’s own unique look-and-feel.

All three sites - the main Northpoint website, as well as the two mini-sites, all have a similar feel carried across them; a visual thread which ties them together.
